Seaweed and Page Turn Animations

Animation, Art 10 Comments

I should win a gold medal in procrastination.  Seriously.
Below is my seaweed and page turn animations.  I did them both in one sitting, the night before they were due :D  I should probably spend more time on them, d’oh.
I’m content with the seaweed but the page turn is a monstrosity.  The book was supposed to be drawn in two-point perspective, but I free handed it.  Mistake, mistake, mistake.  All on account of procrastination and laziness.  Bad.
I promise to spend more time on my animations.  Enjoy?

Oh, and Happy Halloween!

Painting

Animation, Art 2 Comments

This was the first painting assignment we had this year.  We were asked to paint four of the same surreal layouts with gouache on illustration board.
The first 5″x7″ painting was painted using a flat opaque method with black and white.  The second painting introduced the gradation flow of shapes.  The third painting was fully rendered and the fourth was our favourite painting (of the three) painted in a monochromatic colour scheme (of our choice).
I left this assignment until the last possible moment (b/c I wasn’t too interested in it >>) so I ended up painting for ten hours in one sitting.  The paintings could have been so much better.  By the time I reached the fourth painting I stopped caring.  The blue on the hand is incredibly rushed and needs a complete overhaul.  Somehow I still got an “A”.
Enjoy.

Baby on Board

Animation, Art 2 Comments

This is my rushed character design of some ugly baby.  The assignment asked for action poses.  Babies seem awkward.  I tried for awkward, aside from the classic strut (used in class) in the top right corner.  Enjoy.

Hands and Feet

Animation, Art 4 Comments

I had to put together a hand and feet portfolio for my life drawing class.  We were required to draw 12 hands and 12 feet in different poses; showing an understanding of proportion and structure.  Luckily for me (-_-), I’ve been suffering from one of the worst colds (and fever ;_;) I’ve ever had and put my work off until the last minute.  Point being: both hands & feet drawings are lame.  I could have done so, so much better.  I drew all 24 drawings in six hours.  This was disappointing, considering I love rendering and we’re sworn off shading this year.  Bah.  Enjoy.

Oh, Baby

Some concept & rough sketches of a baby I’m working on for my character design class.  Enjoy.

One Assignment, Four Animations

Animation No Comments

Here are my four animations from the first assignment.  A rubber ball, bowling ball, balloon, and finally a pendulum.  I’m content with the rubber and bowling balls, but the balloon was rushed (animated in one quick sitting) and the pendulum was shot on a crappy camera (too light!).  Next time I won’t make these same mistakes.  Enjoy.

Storyboarding

Animation, Art 5 Comments

Here’s my first assignment from my storyboarding class.  I procrastinated (^___^) and left the ‘boards until 1 AM the night before.  And I still got an “A” on the assignment.  In six panels we had to visually explain a typical morning before and arriving at school.  I would have liked to have spent more time on these boards, but time management hates me.  Enjoy.

Let’s See That Contrapposto Pose

Animation, Art No Comments

Today in character design, our prof introduced action poses for our characters and had everyone model for others to sketch.

Below is a quick sketch I did of a classmate.

More animation to be posted soon.  Currently living the insomniac lifestyle.

Enjoy.
