I miss you, school. Let’s make some art real soon.
The first week of animation is almost over. Time goes by too fast! Today was my first life drawing class of the year and I think we’re all a little (or immensely) rusty. Mark tells me I have to improve my short hand; I completely and thoroughly agree. I hope to improve over the year. Aside from that, this is my favourite drawing from the session. Enjoy.
Here’s a load of drawings, sketches and a painting from the past five years or so. Nothing is in order. Some of the pieces are dated. I have a lot of old work sitting around that I’ll eventually post. Enjoy.
I started and thankfully finished my final painting assignment tonight. It’s only 2:30 in the morning. I stopped and took pictures through the stages so you can see how I attempt to build up a painting. I spent roughly three and a half hours painting, not including the drawing underneath. It’s acrylic and water colour pencils on a stretched 24″ x 30″ canvas. And I’m not happy with the outcome, it could have been so much stronger but I’ve been buried up to my neck in final assignments and painting is one of my weakest subjects. Just thought I’d justify my reasoning. Oh, and the subject is myself as Howard Beale (Peter Finch) in “Network”. Enjoy.
Some drawings from my life drawing class today. Conte on 18″ x 24″ newsprint. Enjoy.
Pictures of the most recent 3D assignment. Not exactly a huge fan of the class, but I think the finished product turned out okay. Below that, some Paul Frank fanart. It’s the beloved Julius. I painted him in watercolours - wanted to go for a rustic, summertime feel. Julius has a lovely tan. Enjoy.
My site was down for maintenance for a good twelve hours yesterday so I wasn’t able to write. This post is a collection of some of my favourite life drawings from this school year. There’s a lot of progress and problem solving in these. Please see my other life drawing posts so I don’t have to post repeats. Please note - nothing from my animation portfolio is uploaded. Drawings are not in any order, and range from thirty seconds to five minutes. Enjoy.
A painting from today’s class. Prof asked us to paint with washy layers. You can still see the red pencil underneath. The second is a doodle from my business lecture. Sketched my prof. Enjoy.
With portfolio officially finished, I can concentrate on more artwork and updating this blog. Here’s a sketch from my interpretive life drawing class from December 14th, ‘07. Conte on newsprint. Ron is a great model. Enjoy.
Two drawings from my interpretive life drawing class. Conte on 18″ x 24″ brown paper. The full figure was done on February 8th, the other from February 22nd. Enjoy.
